How To Make An Antique Mirror Frame

Materials:

Unfinished wood frame

Instructions:

Begin by sanding the unfinished wood frame to remove any rough edges or splinters. You can use a sanding block or sandpaper wrapped around a sanding sponge.
Once the frame is sanded, apply a thin layer of wood glue to the inside edge of the frame. Press the mirror into the frame, making sure that it is centered.
Clamp the frame together and allow the glue to dry for at least 30 minutes. Once the glue is dry, remove the clamps and sand the frame again to smooth out any rough edges.
Now you can paint or stain the frame. If you are using paint, apply a thin coat and allow it to dry completely. Sand the frame lightly between coats of paint to create a smooth finish.
Once the paint or stain is dry, you can apply an antique glaze to the frame. This will give the frame a aged and antique look. Apply the glaze with a brush, working in small sections. Allow the glaze to dry completely before moving on to the next section.
