How To Put A Frame Around Your Bathroom Mirror

How to Put a Frame Around Your Bathroom Mirror

Whether you want to refresh the look of your bathroom or give your mirror a more custom look, adding a frame is a great way to achieve either goal. While this task might seem like it would require expert installation, it's actually a DIY-friendly project that can be completed in an afternoon. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to put a frame around your bathroom mirror:

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before you begin, you'll need to gather all of your materials. In addition to the frame itself, you'll need the following:

  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Level
  • Pencil
  • Cordless drill
  • Drill bits (sizes will vary depending on the frame)
  • Screws (sizes will vary depending on the frame)
  • Wood glue (optional)

Step 2: Measure and Mark the Mirror

Use the measuring tape or ruler to measure the width and height of the mirror. Mark the center point of each side of the mirror with a pencil. Using the level, draw a horizontal line across the top of the mirror, connecting the two center points you marked earlier.

Step 3: Measure and Cut the Frame

Measure the width and height of the mirror, including the frame. Cut the frame to the appropriate size using a miter saw or a hand saw. If you are using a hand saw, be sure to use a miter box to ensure that the cuts are accurate.

Step 4: Attach the Frame to the Mirror

Apply a thin bead of wood glue to the back of the frame, if desired. Align the frame with the marked lines on the mirror and press it into place. Use the cordless drill to drive screws through the frame and into the mirror. Be sure to use screws that are the appropriate size for the frame.

Step 5: Hang the Mirror

Once the frame is attached, you can hang the mirror on the wall. Use the appropriate hardware for the type of wall you have. If you are hanging the mirror on drywall, you will need to use drywall anchors.

Tips

  • If you are framing a large or heavy mirror, you may need to use additional support, such as mirror clips or L-brackets.
  • If you are using a wood frame, you can paint or stain it to match your bathroom décor.
  • If you are framing a mirror that is already mounted on the wall, you may need to remove the mirror from the wall before you can attach the frame.
