How To Make A Stand Up Mirror Jewelry Box

Materials:

  • 1 piece of 1/2-inch thick plywood, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long
  • 1 piece of 1/4-inch thick plywood, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long
  • 1 piece of 1/8-inch thick plywood, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long
  • 1 piece of 1/4-inch thick acrylic, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long
  • 1 piece of 1/8-inch thick mirror, 12 inches wide by 18 inches long
  • 1 pair of hinges
  • 1 magnetic catch
  • Wood glue
  • Clamps
  • Finishing nails
  • Paint or stain (optional)

Tools:

  • Circular saw
  • Jigsaw
  • Drill
  • Countersink bit
  • Screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Sandpaper

Instructions:

  1. Cut the 1/2-inch thick plywood to size. This will be the back of the jewelry box.
  2. Cut the 1/4-inch thick plywood to size. This will be the front of the jewelry box.
  3. Cut the 1/8-inch thick plywood to size. This will be the divider inside the jewelry box.
  4. Cut the 1/4-inch thick acrylic to size. This will be the window in the front of the jewelry box.
  5. Cut the 1/8-inch thick mirror to size. This will be the mirror inside the jewelry box.
  6. Attach the hinges to the back of the jewelry box and the front of the jewelry box. Make sure the hinges are aligned so that the jewelry box opens and closes smoothly.
  7. Attach the magnetic catch to the back of the jewelry box and the front of the jewelry box. This will keep the jewelry box closed.
  8. Glue the divider inside the jewelry box. Make sure the divider is centered and aligned with the back and front of the jewelry box.
  9. Glue the acrylic window to the front of the jewelry box. Make sure the window is centered and aligned with the back and front of the jewelry box.
  10. Glue the mirror to the inside of the jewelry box. Make sure the mirror is centered and aligned with the back and front of the jewelry box.
  11. Sand the entire jewelry box and apply a finish of your choice.

Your stand up mirror jewelry box is now complete! Enjoy using it to store your jewelry and keep it organized.
